I'm back from the in-laws. Hubby's dad loved his new belt. Son enjoyed the cake and the present they gave him. My son has more money then I have right now. LOL.
Son won his soccer game. I'm tired but little Pete was wagging his tail when we got home, and I caught myself smiling watching the kids play with him. I'm sitting here listening as my kids are laughing and screaming while they play with Pete. Hopefully they will wear each other down and they will all sleep good tonight.
On the ride home I was trying to come up with something to write about.
I started remember when I was 13. Every weekend me and my parents would head south to the lake area, and go flying in ultralights.
This is the closest I could find to what I use to fly in.
My parents had to sign a lot of papers in order for me to get to go up with an instructor.
I loved being up in one, and if I missed getting to go up on a weekend, I would start getting ground sick. The big 2 seater, I went up in, was always with an instructor. Had to have him so he could get us back one the ground. I could get off the ground fine. LOL.
I was sitting on three big fat telephone books, so I could see over the front cover. The picture I found doesn't have a front cover, but the one I rode in the front was enclosed.

They were good times, but what I remember the most was going down one weekend and finding that there was a group of parachutist practicing for an air show that would be the next weekend. I enjoyed watching them, and while my dad went up for his hour of flying time. I talked to them. Being 13 I asked a lot of questions. And one man laughed at me and all my questions and asked me if I would like him to take me up and jump with him.
Well, my mother didn’t go for that idea, but by the time my dad came down to land I had mom wore down and was asking dad if he would let me before he was even unbuckled.
Mom and Dad talked about it with the parachutist, while I was flying. By the time I landed from my hour of flying, they had agreed I could jump, but it would have to be the weekend after the air show.
The parachutist died the next weekend at the air show. It opened but some how one of the cords got wrapped around his neck and broke his neck. He was the brother-in-law to my instructor so I never did get to go back and fly again.
Would I jump out of a perfectly good plane if I had a chance now? They would have to catch me in a manic mode before I would even consider it. Little private plane I wouldn’t hesitate to go up in, but you won’t see me paying good money to ride in one of those big planes. Didn’t like the one and only time I did ride in one of the big ones. I couldn’t see a thing out of those little seat windows, and I disliked not being in the co-pilot’s seat.
